Jay Shah to Be Honoured by BCCI as New Secretary and Treasurer Take Over
Jay Shah, chairman of the International Cricket Council, will be honored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for his significant contributions to Indian cricket as an administrator. His leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact and the BCCI is recognising his efforts in the sport.
During the Special General Meeting in Mumbai on January 12, Jay Shah will be honored by the BCCI’s state units. The meeting will also include the formal election of the board’s new secretary and treasurer. This occasion will highlight Shah’s contributions while marking key administrative changes within the BCCI.
Since October 2019, Jay Shah has been the BCCI’s secretary and the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021. He will attend the Special General Meeting as a “special invitee”. The meeting has been called to officially elect the BCCI’s new secretary and treasurer.
During the meeting, Jay Shah will be honored. The BCCI is expected to appoint Devajit Saikia as the new secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as the new treasurer. Shah was appointed ICC chairman in August 2024, taking over from Greg Barclay, and began his role on December 1.
Jay Shah and Ashish Shelar previously vacated the positions of secretary and treasurer. Shah made a significant impact during his time as BCCI secretary, which is why he is being honored. His contributions played a key role in shaping the board’s success, making the recognition well-deserved.
