The ICC rankings are updated every week on Wednesday, and with the latest update, India has established its dominance across all three formats of the game. It doesn’t matter if you are looking forward to T20I, ODI, or Test rankings; you will be able to find the Indian line-up or its players at the top somewhere.

Regardless of the team going through a transition phase, its dominance still prevails across all three formats of the game. Legends such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and various others have announced their retirements from a few formats, but it hasn’t had much effect on India’s ICC rankings.

Over the past few years, the BCCI has invested its trust heavily in the young talents, which have been one of the major reasons behind India’s rise to the top. The Indian Premier League has also played a crucial role, allowing the young talents to find their way to the top of the ICC rankings.

Recently, Abhishek Sharma has taken the top spot in the T20I rankings, making him another player to hold the top spot in the ICC rankings currently for India. Let’s take a look at how India has established its dominance in the recently updated ICC rankings.

ODI Rankings

In the ICC Men’s ODI team rankings, India has held the top spot for a long time. The team stands in first position, with 4471 points in 36 matches, which also puts their ratings at 124. India is followed by Australia and New Zealand in the rankings, as they both hold 109 points each to their name.

The team’s dominance in the ODI format has been possible with the legendary stars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and various others. Their form in the ODI format remains unmatched since the 2023 World Cup, where India finished the tournament as the runners-up and had no losses in the league stages.

Along with that, India also dominated in the Asia Cup, which was hosted just before the World Cup. Later, the team also went on to have an undefeated campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025, where they ended up winning all the matches and defeating New Zealand in the finals to win the title. With just a few losses, India has established its dominance in the ODI format over the past few months, holding the top place for a long time.

T20I Rankings

Even in the T20I rankings, India has held the top spot for more than a year. Despite not playing many T20I games this year, there has been no other team which dethroned India from the first place. Currently, the team holds an impressive total of 15425 points in 57 matches, which puts their ratings at 271.

However, India is now being closely followed by Australia, who stand at the second spot in the T20I rankings with 265 rating points. The team has also been strong in the ICC tournaments for T20, as they recently won the T20 World Cup 2024, without losing even a single match. Since the T20 World Cup, they have undergone various changes in this format, with legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring.

Despite that, India’s young guns have been able to steal the show in both home and away games. Whether it is Tilak Varma scoring centuries against South Africa or Arshdeep Singh striking early wickets, India still maintains its spot as the number one team in the T20 rankings. Defeating India in a T20I series seems a bit challenging for all the other teams currently.

ODI Batsman Rankings

When it comes to the ODI Batsman Rankings, Shubman Gill holds the top spot. He has been at this place for almost two years, with his career highest ODI ratings being 847 during the match against Australia, which was played at Indore in 2023. Currently, Gill holds the ratings of 784, followed by Babar Azam, who stands at the 2nd spot with 766 points.

Gill also played well for India in the ICC Champions Trophy, starting off the tournament with a century against Bangladesh. He scored 188 runs in 5 matches at an average of 47, and his impressive form in this format has been going on since 2023. In his entire ODI career, Shubman Gill has scored an impressive total of 2775 runs in 55 matches at an average of 59.04, with 8 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

T20I Batsman Rankings

With the ICC T20I rankings getting updated recently, Abhishek Sharma has now gained the top spot in the same. He becomes the fourth Indian player to get to the top spot in the T20 rankings, and will now be eager to maintain the spot for as long as possible. Abhishek Sharma made his debut last year and has quickly risen in the rankings.

Till now in his T20 career, Abhishek Sharma has played 17 matches and scored 535 runs at an average of 33.43 runs per innings. Along with that, he has also been able to score runs at a strike rate of 193.84, while holding two centuries and two half-centuries in just a short span. Taking a look at his strike rate and ability to play aggressively, he deserves to hold this spot.

Travis Head, the Australian batsman, got pulled down to the second spot, which pushed Abhishek Sharma to the top for the first time. Now, Abhishek stands in the first position with 829 rating points, and he is also being followed by Travis Head, with 814 points. In this ranking, Tilak Varma stands in 3rd place, and Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav holds the 6th spot.

Test Bowler Rankings

In the Test Bowler Rankings, Jasprit Bumrah stands at the top spot, dominating not just in India but even in the away Tests. Standing with an overall rating of 898, it showcases how Bumrah has been strong when it comes to taking wickets in the longest format of the game. He is also being followed by Kagiso Rabada, who has 851 rating points.

Bumrah achieved his career best rating in the Test format during the Sydney Test against Australia in 2025, where his rating stood at 908. Playing just 48 Test matches for the Indian team, he has taken an impressive total of 219 wickets at an average of 19.82, with 7 four-wicket hauls and 15 five-wicket hauls.

These numbers help Jasprit Bumrah to be compared with the legendary bowlers, and his name has also been etched as the greatest of all time for the Indian team. Even in the current Test series between India and England, he is the leading wicket-taker for India with 14 wickets in just 3 games. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, he finished with an impressive total of 32 wickets.

Test All-Rounder Rankings

Ravindra Jadeja, a player who has performed for India with both bat and ball, stays at the first spot in the ICC Test All-rounder Rankings. Currently, his ratings stand at 422, which is far lower than his highest ratings of 475, which he achieved during the Test against Bangladesh in 2024. In the current series against England, Jadeja has dominated more with the bat.

What makes the Test All-rounder Rankings even more interesting for the Indian fans is the difference between Jadeja and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who hold the second spot. Miraz has 305 rating points and is behind Ravindra Jadeja with a massive margin of 117 points. Jadeja might likely end the series against England with more points to his rating.

Three times in his career, Jadeja has managed to secure 10 wickets in a match.

T20I All-Rounder Rankings

Since the commencement of the T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik Pandya’s dominance in the T20 format has been unmatched, putting no other all-rounder even close to him in the rankings.
