After the horrifying terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, several Indian cricketers, including Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Mohammad Kaif, expressed their grief and solidarity. Kohli posted on Instagram, mourning the tragic loss and demanding justice. Tendulkar emphasized the nation’s unity during this dark time, while Kaif, recalling his visits to Kashmir, called for peace and normalcy.
Shreevats Goswami urged all Indian players in the IPL to wear black armbands throughout the week to honor the victims and raise awareness globally through the sport. RP Singh echoed similar sentiments, condemning the violence and offering prayers for the victims’ families.
In response, the BCCI announced that a one-minute silence would be observed before the SRH vs MI IPL 2025 match on April 23. Both teams and officials will wear black armbands, and there will be no fireworks or cheerleaders during the game, reflecting the somber mood of the nation.
