With the latest ICC ODI rankings update, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has become the number one all-rounder with 296 rating points. His rise came after stellar performances in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where he delivered match-winning performances against England and Australia. Omarzai scored 41 runs and took a sensational five-wicket haul against England, followed by a quickfire 67 against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
He surpassed fellow Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who now sits in second place, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, who dropped to third. Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner complete the top five.
Rashid Khan, another Afghan star, slipped to sixth, followed by Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and Scotland’s Brandon McMullen. Meanwhile, India’s Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian all-rounder in the top 10, ranking ninth with 213 points. Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus rounds up the list at number 10.
Omarzai’s ascent highlights Afghanistan’s growing dominance in world cricket, especially in the all-rounders’ category. His performances in the Champions Trophy have solidified his status as a key player, and with more matches to come, he could extend his lead at the top.
