Paine remarked that the team had been harshly judged but was among the world’s best, having won every major title except the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which they are keen to claim. He also highlighted the stellar performances of Captain Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuschagne in the pink-ball Test. Tim Paine said:
This is a harshly treated team at times, but they are one of the great teams. They have won everything but the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and they know that they’ve spoken about that, this is the one they want to tick off.
This victory not only kept Australia in the hunt for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but also revived their chances to qualify for the World Test Championship final. The series will continue with the crucial Gabba Test on December 14, where Australia aims to gain momentum for the remaining matches.
