IND vs AUS: India Awaits Mohammed Shami’s Comeback to Revive Bowling Strength

Originally expected to play in the Test series, Mohammed Shami’s return was delayed due to swelling after his surgery. This setback prevented him from being considered for the squad initially. As a result, India opted for a less experienced fast-bowling attack to fill the gap in his absence.

Basit Ali suggested that Mohammed Shami should join India’s squad for the third Test in Brisbane, emphasizing his importance to the pace attack. However, he advised the BCCI against sending Shami to Australia if he is only available for the final two matches of the series. He said:

We are getting news that (Mohammed) Shami will be going but might play from the fourth Test. There won’t be any benefit if India plays Shami in the fourth Test. Send him now and play him in the Brisbane Test. If you are calling him for Melbourne, then don’t call him at all. India needs Shami now! Your pace attack needs Shami.

Reports suggest that Mohammed Shami could be ready for the fourth Test in Melbourne. His kit has reportedly been sent to Australia and he is waiting for fitness clearance from the NCA. Once approved, Shami is expected to join the team and participate in the series.
