In the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, who was with his wife for the birth of their second child, Jasprit Bumrah led India to a memorable victory in the Perth Test. Bumrah stepped up as captain and played a key role in guiding the team to success.
Cheteshwar Pujara praised Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy when asked about it. The experienced India batter described Bumrah as a long-term option for the captaincy. He also commended Bumrah’s leadership skills, particularly since it was his first time leading the team on Australian soil. He said:
He is (a long-term captaincy option) with any doubt. The way he has showed that in difficult circumstances when we had a tough series at home and when you are playing a first Test match in Australia and to put up a show like that. I think he has the capability of leading the team and he’s a team’s man. You look at him he never only talks about himself, he talks about the team, the other players. What advice he would give.
Jasprit Bumrah is also known for his sharp cricketing mind. During the Test, he expertly managed a young bowling attack. Whenever the team needed a wicket, Bumrah stepped up and took a key wicket, showing his ability to deliver in crucial moments.
