Australia’s Nathan Lyon has heaped praise on the Indian cricket team ahead of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide, emphasizing the squad’s remarkable depth and collective talent. While stars like Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli often dominate headlines, Lyon believes India’s strength lies in their entire lineup.
After being outplayed in the opening Test in Perth, Lyon maintained that Australia would stick to their “brand of cricket” while respecting India’s prowess. He said:
I look at the Indian squad and see a group of superstars. Cricket, however, is a team game, and winning requires the entire side to perform well. India boast extraordinary players like Bumrah and others, but it’s not just about the superstars.
India surprised many by leaving out Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in Perth, opting for Washington Sundar as their sole spinner. About this bold selection, he further added:
That more than surprises me…The rest of the Indian squad is also incredibly talented. They’re an incredible cricket team. We’re not focusing solely on any one player, that’s for sure.
With both teams poised for battle, Lyon’s words highlight the respect and rivalry that make this series more enjoyable and bring the perfect spirit of cricket on-field.
