After being the backbone of the Mumbai Indians for over a decade, Rohit Sharma’s form in IPL 2025 has raised concerns. In three matches so far, he has scored just 21 runs off 20 balls—0 vs CSK, 8 vs GT, and 13 vs KKR—highlighting his struggle at the top. His form has been inconsistent in recent seasons as well. In IPL 2024, he scored 417 runs at a strike rate of 150, but his numbers were inflated by a century against CSK. In 2023, he managed 332 runs at 132.8, while in 2022, his tally was 268 at a strike rate of 120.18.
Despite these struggles, MI’s batting coach, Kieron Pollard, remains confident, stating that Rohit is a legend and will soon return to form. He said:
Rohit has etched his name in history, in record books, in different situations, in different formats of the game. He is a legend of the game. So, let’s not judge him on a couple of low scores.
However, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed concerns, suggesting that Rohit is no longer the player he was a few years ago and must push himself harder. As MI prepares to face Lucknow Super Giants, all eyes will be on Rohit to see if he can silence his critics and reclaim his dominant form.
