Why is Shubman Gill Denying Rumours About His Relationship?

Known as the “Prince of Cricket”, Shubman Gill has built a strong fanbase with his talent and style. Fans are always curious to know more about his journey and personal life. One topic that gets a lot of attention is his relationship status, which Shubman often chooses to keep private. Let’s discuss how Shubman Gill has revealed all the details about it.

Is Shubman Gill Single for the Past Three Years?

Being one of the most likeable and elegant players on the field, Shubman Gill’s stylish batting and charming presence have made him a fan favourite across the world. His calmness, smile, and the way he carries himself both on and off the field often leave fans in awe. Many find it hard to believe that someone like him could be single. Over the years, rumours have constantly surrounded Gill’s personal life, linking him with different celebrities and personalities. However, Shubman recently addressed these rumours and set the record straight.

After talking to the Hollywood Reporter India, Shubman Gill made it clear that he hasn’t dated anyone and has been single for over three years now. He mentioned that while there have been countless stories connecting him to various people, most of them are baseless. Some of the rumours have been so absurd, he said, that they involved individuals he has never even met. Despite all the noise, Shubman said he remains unfazed, as he knows the truth himself. He said:

I mean, I’ve been single for over three years, and so many speculations and rumours link me with different people. And sometimes, it’s so ridiculous that I would have never even seen or met that person ever in my life. And I would be hearing rumours about why I’m with this person and this person where else I’d be like. Like, I know I’m so focused on what I need to do in my professional career. There is no space in my life to be with someone like 300 days a year. We are on the road travelling somewhere. So there is hardly any time to be with someone or invest, you know, the time to be with someone in a relationship.

In the past, Shubman Gill’s name had been linked with Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter, Sara Tendulkar, and Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan. These rumours made headlines and created a lot of buzz among fans and the media. However, Gill firmly denied any such relationships. Explaining his side, he shared that with the busy life of a cricketer, there is hardly any time left for a relationship. Playing almost 300 days a year and travelling constantly, Gill admitted that it is difficult to make time for anything other than his career at this stage.

How Hrithik Roshan Inspired Shubman Gill in His Early Days?

Being a charming player and one of the cricketers known for his amazing looks in the Indian cricket team, Shubman Gill has won hearts not just with his batting but also with his personality. Just like in the young days of Shubman Gill, he managed to idolize the charming actor Hrithik Roshan, who became his role model, and this was the perfect moment where admiration turned into inspiration for him.

During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shubman Gill shared a lighthearted but interesting story from his childhood. He revealed that while growing up, he was a massive fan of Hrithik Roshan. In fact, Hrithik’s blockbuster debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai had a big impact on him. Shubman mentioned that he actually hated eating parathas as a kid. But after watching Hrithik’s character in the movie loving aloo parathas, young Gill decided to start eating them too, just to follow in his idol’s footsteps. He said:

Growing up, I was a big fan of Hrithik Roshan. I used to hate parathas as a kid, but I started eating them because of Hrithik’s character in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai loved aloo parathas! I can do without everything… but if I’m not surrounded by my best friends, I start feeling depressed. I’m a bit biased towards Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, and Cillian Murphy. I watched [Christopher Nolan’s] Dark Knight trilogy when I was a kid — anything they make, I have to watch.

Laughing about it now, Gill admitted how deep his admiration was and how even small things about his hero influenced his habits. Of course, as a professional athlete today, Shubman now opts for a healthier, gluten-free version of parathas to stay fit and match-ready. This simple story shows how deeply the early influences of childhood can shape a person. For Shubman Gill, Hrithik Roshan was not just a star on the big screen but someone whose style and personality left a lasting impression.

How Shubman Gill Got the Confidence for the Champions Trophy?

Being one of the youngest members of the ICC Champions Trophy, the pressure was surely on Shubman Gill to come and perform for the team, and he ultimately did it. Moreover, it was a big role for him at the top of the order, and he didn’t disappoint. Gill’s consistency and composure with the bat allowed India to dominate the tournament and eventually lift the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy title after beating New Zealand in the final.

Throughout the Champions Trophy, Gill was in superb form, scoring 188 runs across five matches. His standout moment came during the very first group stage match against Bangladesh, where he anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten century, scoring 101 not out. That knock set the tone for India’s campaign and gave the team a solid platform to build on. His ability to bat with patience and flair gave the top order the stability they needed, helping India consistently post or chase down competitive totals. He said:

Honestly, not many things changed for me from the final we played in Ahmedabad to the final we played in Dubai. The reality of sport is that one match cannot decide if you are the best team are not. We still believed that we were the best team in the world and played the best cricket in that tournament. We didn’t win the World Cup which is the ultimate goal for everyone. But as a team, we all knew we didn’t have to prove anything to anyone.

Winning the ICC Champions Trophy has undoubtedly been the pinnacle of Shubman Gill’s career so far. Just two years after the heartbreak of losing the 2023 ODI World Cup final to Australia, Gill and his teammates, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, showed remarkable resilience. Gill reflected that the team never let the World Cup defeat define them. Instead, their focus heading into the Champions Trophy was on their strengths and their belief that they were still the best team in the world. He further added:

Going into the Champions Trophy, we never talked about the final. We only talked about how good we were as a team and how we needed to keep doing the same thing in the tournament. There are certain moments that haunt you when you play there (in the final). You might think “Let’s take away all of that and play freely” but some things do come back. I don’t think there’s any other thing other than sports where you can be called “World Champions”. To be able to win a trophy as a part of the same team as Virat bhai and Rohit bhai, whom you have grown up watching in something you can’t describe

In an interview, Gill revealed that there were no conversations about revenge or finals; the team’s discussions were centred purely around playing their brand of cricket and trusting the process. His comments about certain memories of past failures still haunting players showed the mental battle he and his teammates had to overcome. Yet, their ability to stay focused and play freely was key to their success.

Winning the Champions Trophy has given Shubman Gill massive confidence going into upcoming ICC events. His performances under pressure have not only strengthened his own place in the team but have also shown that he can be the pillar of India’s batting lineup in the future.
