For the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), IPL 2025 has been a major disappointment so far. With just 2 wins and 6 losses from 8 matches, CSK sits at the bottom of the points table with only 4 points. Their recent defeat to the Mumbai Indians has made their path to the playoffs extremely difficult. Despite this, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan remains hopeful, acknowledging the team’s poor performance but backing the players and expressing faith in a turnaround.
He referenced the 2010 IPL season when CSK bounced back from five consecutive losses to eventually win the title. This season began with promise as CSK defeated MI in their opener. However, a five-match losing streak followed, including defeats to RCB (by 50 runs), RR (by 6 runs), DC (by 25 runs), PBKS (by 18 runs), and KKR (by 8 wickets).
Though they broke the streak with a win over LSG, they once again lost to MI. A worrying trend has been their failure to win a single home game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With six matches remaining, CSK will look to revive their season, starting with a clash against SRH on April 25. Viswanathan also praised MS Dhoni’s leadership and Shivam Dube’s efforts on and off the field.
