West Indies vs Bangladesh: Bangladesh Clinches Test Victory in West Indies After 15 Years with 101-Run Win

The fourth day of the second Test match between West Indies and Bangladesh saw the visitors secure a historic 101-run victory, their first-ever Test win in the West Indies in 15 years. Bangladesh’s triumph leveled the series 1-1, with both teams sharing the spoils. Chasing 287 in the final innings, the West Indies were bowled out for 185.

Although Kavem Hodge (55) and captain Kraigg Brathwaite (43) provided some resistance, they failed to lead their team to victory. Bangladesh’s bowlers, particularly Taijul Islam, played a crucial role in dismantling the West Indies batting lineup. Islam picked up a remarkable five wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud also contributed with two wickets each.

Earlier, Bangladesh had posted 268 in their second innings, with Jaker Ali scoring 91 runs from 106 balls. Alzarri Joseph and Kemar Roach were the standout bowlers for the West Indies, taking three wickets each. In the first innings, Bangladesh had been bowled out for 164, with Shadman Islam’s 64 being the highest score. The West Indies were dismissed for 146, with Nahid Rana taking a fifer. Bangladesh’s stand-in captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz lauded his team’s resilience, especially the bowlers, for their performance in both innings.
