On the second day of the Ranji Trophy semi-final between Vidarbha and Mumbai, Vidarbha posted a strong first-innings total of 383 in 107.5 overs, with key contributions from Dhruv Shorey (74), Danish Malewar (79), and Yash Rathod (54). Mumbai’s Shivam Dube was the standout bowler, taking 5 wickets for 49 runs, while Shams Mulani and Royston Dias picked up two wickets each.
In response, Mumbai struggled at 188/7 in 59 overs, trailing by 195 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Akash Anand remained unbeaten on 67 off 171 balls, while Shardul Thakur provided a quick 37 off 41 before falling to Yash Thakur. Mumbai’s top order crumbled as Ajinkya Rahane (18), Suryakumar Yadav (0), and Shivam Dube (0) departed in quick succession. Parth Rekhade’s brilliant spell of 3/16 in 16 overs, along with Yash Thakur’s 2/56, put Mumbai under pressure.
With only Royston Dias and Mohit Avasthi left to bat, Mumbai faces an uphill battle to close the deficit. Vidarbha’s bowlers, led by Rekhade and Thakur, have given their team a strong chance of securing a first-innings lead. Day 3 will be crucial for Mumbai as they aim to avoid a major setback in their title quest.
