In the ongoing ODI tri-series in Pakistan, Kane Williamson showcased his class with an unbeaten 133 off 113 balls, helping New Zealand chase down South Africa’s 305-run target in Lahore. His innings, which included nine fours and a six, secured the Black Caps’ spot in the final with a six-wicket victory and eight balls to spare.
Williamson formed a crucial 187-run partnership with Devon Conway for the second wicket, the highest for New Zealand against South Africa in ODIs and their third-highest for the second wicket overall. Conway fell just short of a century, scoring 97, but Williamson anchored the chase till the end.
During his knock, Williamson reached 7,000 ODI runs in just 159 innings, making him the second-fastest batter to achieve the milestone. He surpassed Virat Kohli, who reached the mark in 161 innings but remains behind Hashim Amla, who did it in 150 innings.
