Jasprit Bumrah has been crowned with the No. 1 position in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings for his stellar performance in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Leading India in Perth, Bumrah’s outstanding bowling display helped India secure a dominant victory over Australia. He took a five-wicket haul in the first innings, reducing Australia to just 104 runs, and followed it up with a three-wicket effort in the second innings.
Bumrah’s performance saw him climb two spots in the rankings, overtaking Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood. His efforts earned him the Man of the Match award, further cementing his position as one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
Mohammed Siraj also saw an improvement in his rankings, rising three places to No. 25 after taking five wickets in the match. In the batter’s rankings, young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal made a significant jump to No. 2, thanks to a brilliant century in the second innings of the Perth Test.
Jaiswal’s 161-run knock earned him a career-best rating of 825. Virat Kohli moved up nine spots to No. 13 following his 30th Test century which helped this legend to come out of his century drought also. Australia’s Travis Head also improved to No. 10 after a solid 89-run performance.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin remain in the top two positions for Test all-rounders, despite missing the first Test at Perth.
