Coming to the 17th match of the One-Day Cup at W.A.C.A, South Australia (SOA) secured a 44-run victory over Western Australia (WA) after posting 208/9 in 50 overs. Liam Scott played a crucial all-round role, scoring 47 off 68 balls and taking 3/16 in 8 overs, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Batting first, SOA had a steady start with Mackenzie Harvey (24) and Nathan McSweeney (28), but the team struggled at times. Jason Sangha contributed 38 off 36 balls, while Henry Thornton’s late 23 off 40 helped push the total past 200. Mahli Beardman was the standout bowler for WA, taking 4/46 in 10 overs, supported by Lance Morris (2/34).
Chasing 209, WA started aggressively, with Sam Fanning smashing 34 off 19 balls. However, wickets fell at regular intervals, reducing them to 45/4. D’Arcy Short fought back with 55 off 68, and Ashton Turner added 43 off 40, but they lacked support. Liam Scott’s disciplined spell, along with Wes Agar (2/32) and Lloyd Pope (2/21), helped bowl out WA for 164 in 38.5 overs.
With this win, SOA controlled the match with both bat and ball, defending a modest total with an efficient bowling performance.
