For the team of Jasprit Bumrah and Sanjana Ganesan, Sunday was bittersweet. While Bumrah starred on the field, becoming Mumbai Indians’ highest-ever wicket-taker in IPL history with a four-wicket haul that helped MI crush Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs at Wankhede, controversy brewed off the field. Sanjana took to Instagram to strongly condemn trolls who mocked their one-and-a-half-year-old son, Angad, over his expressions captured during the match.
She criticized social media users for making assumptions about her child from a few seconds of footage, and expressed concern over people casually using serious mental health terms like “trauma” and “depression” for a toddler. Sanjana emphasized that their son was present solely to support Bumrah and should not be a subject of public commentary. The couple, married since 2021, welcomed Angad in September 2023. Despite the social media negativity, Bumrah’s record-setting performance highlighted a memorable day for the family on and off the field.
