In the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry during a conversation with podcaster Lex Fridman. While avoiding direct comparisons, Modi pointed to recent match results, highlighting India’s victory over Pakistan in Dubai.
India remained unbeaten in the tournament, winning all five matches and securing the title after 12 years. In contrast, Pakistan struggled, losing to India and New Zealand before their last match was abandoned due to rain.
Historically, Pakistan leads in overall head-to-head encounters across formats, but in the past decade, India has dominated with a 12-3 record. Hosting their first ICC event in nearly 30 years, Pakistan had high expectations but failed to progress beyond the group stage. India’s consistent performances and superior squad strength continue to set them apart from their arch-rivals on the global stage.
