For the 2nd T20I in Delhi, India produced a dominant performance to defeat Afghanistan by 7 wickets and take an unassailable lead in the 3-match series. Afghanistan first posted 159/8 in their 20 overs, but India’s bowlers kept the scoring under control. Nitish Kumar Reddy delivered a career-best 3-wicket haul, while Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets.
Chasing 160, India completed the target in only 14.5 overs, reaching 163/3. Sanju Samson led the chase with a stunning 57 off 22 balls, providing the innings with quick runs and putting Afghanistan under pressure. Abhishek Sharma also made an important contribution, scoring 39 from 19 deliveries. Samson and Abhishek combined for an 88-run partnership that gave India a strong platform during the chase.
Their aggressive batting ensured India stayed well ahead of the required run rate and finished the match comfortably. The victory also gave India their first series win on Indian soil under captain Shreyas Iyer. With 1 match still remaining, India will now look to complete a clean sweep in the final T20I against Afghanistan.
