In the Sher E Punjab T20 League, Shubman Gill produced another impressive batting display for Fazilka Falcons against Amritsar Soormas. The India white ball captain scored 67 runs from 35 balls, striking at 191.43 with 8 fours and 3 sixes. His innings included an entertaining contest with India teammate and childhood friend Abhishek Sharma, who captained Amritsar.
Gill smashed Abhishek for 2 sixes and a four during the 10th over, scoring 19 runs from the spinner’s 10 balls. However, Abhishek eventually had the final say, as Gill was caught by Naman Dhir off his bowling on the last ball of the over. Gill started carefully after Fazilka lost Vihaan Malhotra early, but soon shifted gears.
He struck 3 consecutive boundaries against Naman Dhir before finding more boundaries against Sahil Khan and Jaipartap Singh Johal. He then hit Shubham Rana for a six and a four before completing his half century from only 28 balls. Gill had last played a T20I for India in December 2025 and missed the 2026 T20 World Cup. He is expected to return to India’s white ball setup for the ODI series against West Indies starting September 27.
