Social Media Reacts as Delhi Capitals Keep Playoff Hopes Alive with Record Chase Against Punjab Kings

In the thrilling clash at Dharamsala, Delhi Capitals pulled off a memorable 3-wicket victory over Punjab Kings to keep their IPL 2026 campaign alive. Chasing 211, DC reached 216/7 in 19 overs, completing the highest successful chase ever at the HPCA Stadium. Punjab Kings started strongly after being put into bat by Axar Patel. Openers gave them early momentum as they raced to 51 in the first 3 overs, looking set for a huge total.

But Delhi bowlers settled down well, using back-of-length deliveries and some movement off the pitch to slow things down. Shreyas Iyer and Cooper Connolly added useful runs in the middle, helping PBKS post a challenging total, though they left a few runs behind in the final overs. Delhi’s chase was far from smooth. Losing 3 wickets in the Powerplay put them on the back foot early. That is when skipper Axar Patel took charge.

He played one of his best knocks of the season, scoring 56 from 30 balls and bringing up his 4th IPL fifty. His partnership with Tristan Stubbs helped Delhi recover before Stubbs was run out. Later, David Miller turned the game around with an attacking 50 off 27 balls, his 14th IPL fifty. Even after Miller got out at a crucial moment, Delhi did not lose belief.

Ashutosh Sharma played a quick cameo, while Madhav Tiwari added important boundaries under pressure. The finish was dramatic. With scores level after a no-ball boundary, Auqib Nabi finished the chase in style by smashing Yash Thakur for six. The result handed Punjab Kings their 4th straight defeat, while Delhi stayed alive, even if their playoff hopes remained slim.
