With the IPL 2025 entering its crucial phase, Delhi Capitals are facing a major crisis as four overseas players — Faf du Plessis, Mitchell Starc, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Donovan Ferreira — have opted out of the tournament. Du Plessis, who scored 168 runs in six innings, and Fraser-McGurk’s exit has disrupted the top-order balance, while Ferreira managed only one run in his sole appearance. Now, Dushmantha Chameera and Tristan Stubbs remain the only active foreign players in Delhi’s squad. Stubbs will be available for the playoffs as he is not in South Africa’s WTC final squad.
The team has signed Mustafizur Rahman and Sediqullah Atal, but Rahman awaits NOC from the BCB, and Atal had replaced Harry Brook earlier. Delhi sits fifth on the points table with 13 points in 11 games and needs to win two of their last three matches to qualify. Their abandoned game against Punjab Kings due to security concerns will resume from Punjab’s 122/1 in 10.1 overs.
