The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin in Pakistan, with the opening match between the hosts and New Zealand at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. However, controversy arose when the Indian flag was missing from the stadium roof, sparking backlash from fans. The PCB initially defended its decision, citing ICC instructions to display only four flags, including those of the teams playing that day. They also mentioned India’s hybrid model, which excludes travel to Pakistan, as a reason for omission.
Amid criticism, the PCB reversed its decision, and images of the Indian flag in Karachi soon surfaced online. Meanwhile, the PCB has expressed confidence in the tournament’s readiness and has planned a grand opening ceremony featuring a special air show. The Champions Trophy promises high-stakes cricket, with India set to face Bangladesh in their first match on February 20 in Dubai.
