When it comes to modern-day cricket greats, Virat Kohli continues to earn high praise. Ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium, former India opener Virender Sehwag lauded Kohli, calling him the greatest player of this era. Sehwag believes that Kohli’s consistency across formats is unmatched and unlikely to be replicated in the future.
In IPL 2025, Kohli has played three matches, scoring 97 runs, including an unbeaten 59-run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and a 31-run innings against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, in his latest outing versus Gujarat Titans (GT), he was dismissed for just seven runs by Arshad Khan.
Before IPL, Kohli was part of India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025-winning squad, scoring 218 runs in five matches at an average of 54.50. After the IPL, he is expected to travel to England for India’s five-Test series starting June 20.
