In the clip, the girl can be heard pleading, “Sir please sir ek photo”, but Gill walked on with his luggage and security, drawing mixed reactions online. Some fans criticized the cricketer’s behavior, calling it indifferent, while others defended his privacy.
This incident comes at a time when Gill is in the spotlight, reportedly set to lead the Indian Test team for their five-match tour of England starting in mid-June, following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket. Though no official announcement has been made yet, Gill is a frontrunner for the role.
Currently, Gill is captaining the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. Before the tournament was suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Titans were topping the points table with eight wins and three losses in 11 matches. Over the weekend, the team also resumed training, hinting at a potential IPL restart. Despite the social media criticism, Gill remains a key figure in Indian cricket’s leadership transition phase.
