His unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, including 7 boundaries, guided India to a comfortable six-wicket victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This knock earned him the Player of the Match award and saw him shatter multiple records.
Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach 14,000 ODI runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s milestone. He also equaled the record for the most 50+ scores (6) in Champions Trophy history and matched Tendulkar’s 23 fifty-plus scores in ICC ODI tournaments. With this innings, Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting to become the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket, accumulating 27,503 runs.
His century was the highest individual score by an Indian against Pakistan in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s 91. Kohli also became the highest run-scorer against Pakistan in the tournament, amassing 224 runs across five matches. Additionally, he overtook Rohit Sharma’s record for the most runs (433) against Pakistan in ICC ODI tournaments. Kohli’s brilliance extended to the field, as he claimed his 158th catch, surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin’s record, and secured his fifth Player of the Match award against Pakistan in ICC tournaments.
