Sanju Samson Cleared for Captaincy, Set to Keep Wickets for RR in IPL 2025

As the IPL 2025 season progresses, Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson has received fitness clearance and is set to return as both leader and wicketkeeper. Samson, who suffered a finger injury from a Jofra Archer delivery during the India-England T20I series, had undergone surgery and missed full participation in RR’s first three matches.

During his absence, Riyan Parag captained the team, while Dhruv Jurel took over wicketkeeping duties. However, after completing rehabilitation at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, Samson is ready to take charge again for RR’s fourth match against Punjab Kings on April 5 in Mullanpur.

Despite a strong start with a half-century in RR’s opening game against SRH, Samson struggled in subsequent matches, managing only 33 runs combined against CSK and KKR. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, after two early defeats, made a comeback by defeating CSK.

However, they are still placed ninth in the ten-team points table, needing consistent performances to stay competitive. With Samson back at the helm, RR will aim to regain momentum and push for a stronger standing in the tournament. His return also brings stability to the team’s leadership and wicketkeeping, which could play a crucial role in their campaign.
