Ahead of the T20I series against England, Sanju Samson showcased his singing skills at India’s team dinner in Kolkata. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter performed the popular Bollywood song “Pehla Nasha” from the 1991 film “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar”, impressing his teammates, including Abhishek Nayar, who joined him in a mini karaoke session. Samson shared the video on Instagram, jokingly suggesting that he might move to Mumbai for a Bollywood career. He humorously wrote, “Njan paadi (I sang). Mein Mumbai aa sakta hu (Can I come to Mumbai?)” in three different languages.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav responded with a playful remark, urging Samson to focus on the upcoming T20I series, adding that Mumbai would only be in his future after auditions in Chennai, Rajkot, and Pune.
India’s T20I series begins on January 22, 2025, in Kolkata, and will continue in Chennai, Rajkot, and Pune. Samson, a consistent performer in T20Is, was chosen as the first-choice wicketkeeper for the series despite missing out on the Champions Trophy squad. He scored 436 runs in 13 T20I matches in 2024, including three centuries and one fifty, demonstrating excellent form leading into the series.
