After the Champions Trophy 2025 controversy, Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans landed in another social media storm ahead of PSL 2025. The franchise used Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s voice in their promotional video, which fans termed inappropriate and disrespectful.
The video featured Multan’s mascot “Saeen” sitting beside the PSL 2025 trophy, while an audio clip from Rohit’s press conference after India’s Champions Trophy win played in the background. In the clip, Rohit humorously said, “Aap mujhe pucho kitna wo lagta hai ye jitne ke liye” (Ask me how much it takes to win the title), referring to India’s triumph.
Fans criticized the use of Rohit’s voice in a Pakistan Super League promo, calling it unnecessary and mocking. This controversy comes close on the heels of Australian cricketer Brad Hogg’s viral video criticizing Rizwan’s English, which also triggered backlash.
Rizwan, already facing criticism after Pakistan’s poor Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, losing to India and New Zealand with the third game against Bangladesh washed out, chose club cricket over the National T20 tournament, further angering fans. PSL 2025 is set to begin on April 11, with Multan Sultans playing Karachi Kings after the tournament opener between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
