In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal, Rohit Sharma led India to a dominant four-wicket victory over Australia in Dubai on March 4. With this win, Rohit became the first captain to lead a team to the finals of all four major ICC men’s tournaments — ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, World Test Championship (WTC), and Champions Trophy — surpassing MS Dhoni’s record.
Despite his struggles with the bat in the tournament, scoring just 104 runs in four innings at an average of 26, Rohit’s leadership has been instrumental. Under his captaincy, India has won 102 out of 141 matches across formats. He previously guided India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup and reached the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and WTC.
In the semifinal, Australia set a target of 264, with Steve Smith (73) and Alex Carey (61) contributing key runs. Mohammed Shami took three wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy bagged two each. India chased down the target in 48.1 overs, with Virat Kohli scoring a crucial 84 off 98 balls, earning his seventh Player of the Match award in ICC ODI tournaments.
India will now face either South Africa or New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final on March 9 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
