After winning the ODI series 3-0 against England, India gained significant momentum ahead of the Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19. In the third ODI, India secured a commanding 142-run victory, completing a whitewash under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
This achievement made Rohit the first Indian skipper to record four ODI series whitewashes, surpassing MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, who had three each. Notably, Rohit has now led India to whitewashes against four different teams—West Indies (2022), New Zealand (2023), Sri Lanka (2023), and now England (2025).
With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, Rohit is closing in on multiple personal milestones. He needs just 12 runs to become the fourth Indian to reach 11,000 ODI runs and is 14 sixes away from surpassing Shahid Afridi’s record of 351 sixes in ODIs. Additionally, one more century would make him the third active player with 50 international tons.
Having already led India to the T20 World Cup title last year, he now aims to win consecutive ICC trophies. The Champions Trophy is likely to be Rohit’s final ICC event, and with India chasing a historic third title, he will look to sign off in style.
