After being the center of attention for leading Rajasthan Royals (RR) to their first win of IPL 2025, stand-in captain Riyan Parag found himself in controversy after a viral video showed him throwing an IPL crew member’s phone after taking a selfie. The incident, which took place after RR’s thrilling six-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati, sparked criticism on social media, with many calling it an act of arrogance.
However, in the same video, Parag was also seen signing an autograph for a groundsman. On the field, Parag played a crucial role, scoring 37 off 28 balls, along with a stunning catch to dismiss Shivam Dube, which shifted the momentum. RR posted 182/9, thanks to Nitish Rana’s explosive 81 off 36 balls.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led the chase with a steady 63 off 44, but despite a late effort from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, CSK fell short by six runs. RR’s strong bowling performance, especially from Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga, helped seal the win. This victory marked a turnaround for RR after two consecutive losses, while CSK suffered their second straight defeat in the tournament.
