With the conclusion of the latest ICC rankings update, Ravindra Jadeja has officially become the greatest Test all-rounder of all time, holding the No. 1 spot for a record 1,151 consecutive days since March 9, 2022. This surpasses the reigns of iconic names like Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev, and Imran Khan. The Indian all-rounder first held the top rank briefly in 2017, but his current stretch has been unprecedented and dominance.
Since reclaiming the No. 1 position from Jason Holder, Jadeja has showcased remarkable consistency. In 23 Tests over this period, he has scored 1,175 runs at an average of 36.71, including three centuries and five fifties. With the ball, he has taken 91 wickets at an exceptional average of 22.34, highlighted by six five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls. He currently leads the ICC Test all-rounder rankings with 400 rating points, ahead of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Marco Jansen, and Pat Cummins.
Jadeja played a pivotal role in India’s Test series victories against England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. As India gears up for a five-match Test series in England starting June 20, and with senior players like Kohli and Rohit retired, Jadeja’s leadership and all-around brilliance will be crucial.
