The Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir will see key players Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal bolster Mumbai’s squad. Mumbai’s senior selection committee announced their inclusion ahead of the match from January 23 to 26 at the MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Mumbai. Rohit Sharma, who last played a Ranji game in 2015, returns to the domestic circuit, strengthening the lineup. Yashasvi Jaiswal, in exceptional form with 1,771 international runs in 2024, including three centuries, will also feature.
Ajinkya Rahane will continue as captain, with Rohit Sharma likely opening alongside Jaiswal, as Angkrish Raghuvanshi is replaced. Despite Rohit’s underwhelming recent Test performances, his experience adds depth to the team. Jaiswal’s stellar form contrasts with Rohit’s struggles, as the young opener has established himself as one of India’s top performers.
Shreyas Iyer, with 452 runs in four Ranji matches at an average of 90.40, continues his strong form. Mumbai’s squad also includes seasoned players like Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur, and Shams Mulani. This combination of experience and form aims to give Mumbai an edge in the upcoming Ranji clash against Jammu & Kashmir.
