After the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25. The tournament was suspended on May 8 after an Indian drone crash near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, raising security concerns among foreign players. As a result, 43 international cricketers from countries like Australia, England, South Africa, the West Indies, New Zealand, and Afghanistan were evacuated from Pakistan. Initially, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) considered relocating the remaining matches to Dubai, but later opted for a temporary halt.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the resumption through a post on X, highlighting that the remaining eight matches will likely take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Quetta Gladiators have already secured a playoff spot with 13 points. Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, and Peshawar Zalmi remain in contention, while Multan Sultans, captained by Mohammad Rizwan, are out after eight losses in nine games.
Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL), which had also been suspended amid the border tensions, will resume on May 17 and continue until June 3. Both leagues’ resumption marks a hopeful return to normalcy in South Asian cricket after a tense political standoff.
