For the upcoming IPL 2025 season, MS Dhoni is making a significant change by switching to lighter bats, moving away from the heavier ones that defined his aggressive style in his prime. According to reports from the New Indian Express, Dhoni, known for using bats weighing around 1.2 kg since his U-19 days and 1.3 kg during his peak years, is now opting for lighter willows to suit his current playing style.
Sanspareils Greenlands Pvt. Ltd., his long-time bat supplier, has delivered four new bats to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend ahead of the tournament. This change is aimed at enhancing his bat flow, especially during the death overs, where he plays a crucial role as a finisher. Dhoni’s former teammate Suresh Raina confirmed this development during the India vs. Pakistan match on February 23.
The decision to reduce bat weight is strategic, considering Dhoni’s evolving role. Lighter bats will not only improve his shot execution but also reduce strain, allowing him to maintain his aggressive approach while ensuring swift bat speed. As Dhoni gears up for another IPL season, fans eagerly await to see how this adjustment influences his performance on the field.
