With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 approaching, MS Dhoni has once again captured fans’ attention with his vintage batting display during Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) training session. At 43, the legendary former Indian and CSK captain showcased his iconic helicopter shot, smashing Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana for a six at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The viral clip revived memories of Dhoni’s famous helicopter shot against Lasith Malinga, proving his timeless batting prowess despite retiring from international cricket in 2020.
Known as “Thala”, Dhoni has been a pillar of CSK’s success since the IPL’s inception in 2008, leading them to five titles over 17 seasons. His loyal fan base continues to grow as he prepares for yet another IPL season. CSK will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, also five-time champions, on March 23 at Chepauk. Meanwhile, the season opener features defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22.
The buzz around IPL 2025 is further fueled by reports of the BCCI hosting opening ceremonies across all 13 venues. Dhoni’s continued brilliance and CSK’s high-voltage clash with MI promise an electrifying start to the tournament.
