MS Dhoni Faces Legal Troubles Ahead of IPL 2025 Season

With the IPL 2025 just around the corner, MS Dhoni is facing legal trouble over allegations regarding his residential property in Ranchi. The Jharkhand Housing Board has launched an investigation into claims that Dhoni has been using the 10,000-square-foot plot, originally allocated for residential purposes, for commercial activities. The issue centers on the presence of a diagnostic lab on the property, which is seen as violating the board’s rules that prohibit using residential plots for commercial purposes. On this, Chairman Sanjay Lal Paswan said:

The state housing board’s rules dictate that plots allotted for residential purposes could not be used for commercial gains. We have received some complaints. I have asked the officials to probe the matter. If the allegations are found to be true, then a notice will be issued to (MS) Dhoni.

The Jharkhand Housing Board received complaints about this and has instructed officials to investigate. If the allegations are confirmed, Dhoni could receive a legal notice, followed by further actions. However, Dhoni is not residing at the Harmu Road property but lives at a seven-acre facility on Simaliya Ring Road, built over three years and completed in 2017.

Despite his retirement from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni continues to play in the IPL and captained Chennai Super Kings until 2024. He scored 161 runs in IPL 2024 and is expected to participate in IPL 2025, continuing his role as a key player for the franchise.
