In the 6th match of Group A in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Bangladesh posted 236/9 in their allotted 50 overs against New Zealand in Rawalpindi. Opting to field first, New Zealand’s bowlers kept Bangladesh under pressure despite a fighting knock of 77 off 110 balls from skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, which included nine boundaries.
Tanzid Hasan provided a brisk start with 24 off 24 balls, while Jaker Ali contributed a crucial 45 off 55 deliveries, including three fours and a six. Lower down the order, Rishad Hossain’s quickfire 26 off 25 balls helped push Bangladesh past 230. Extras played a significant role, with New Zealand conceding 25 runs, including 22 wides.
Michael Bracewell was the standout bowler, claiming 4/26 in his 10 overs, while Will O’Rourke picked up 2/48. Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson chipped in with a wicket each. Despite maintaining discipline, New Zealand’s bowlers struggled with extras, especially O’Rourke, who bowled six wides.
New Zealand, with a 68.20% win probability at the break, will look to chase down the 237-run target with their strong batting lineup, including Conway, Williamson, and Latham. Bangladesh, defending a modest total, will rely on early breakthroughs to stay competitive.
