For the remainder of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans are likely to bring in Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis as a replacement for England’s Jos Buttler, according to a NewsWire report. Buttler, who has been in fine form this season, is expected to leave early to join England’s white-ball squad for a series against the West Indies starting May 29.
Due to the IPL final being rescheduled from May 25 to June 3 following a week-long delay caused by India-Pakistan tensions, Buttler’s availability for the final phase is uncertain. Kusal Mendis will become the second Sri Lankan cricketer to join the Gujarat Titans after Dasun Shanaka.
While the official announcement is pending, sources suggest Mendis will take over Buttler’s spot for the final leg of the season. This move is crucial for Gujarat Titans as they aim to maintain momentum and strengthen their lineup for the business end of IPL 2025.
