Kohli & Rohit to Play for India A? Karun Nair’s Red-Hot Form Earns England Tour Spot!

For the upcoming India A tour to England, Karun Nair has emerged as a strong contender following an outstanding domestic season. Nair was the top scorer in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the fourth-highest run-getter in the Ranji Trophy, accumulating 863 runs in nine matches, including four centuries and two fifties. His performances played a crucial role in Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy victory, strengthening his case for selection.

India A is set to play two four-day matches against England Lions, starting on May 30 in Canterbury, followed by the second game on June 6 in Northampton. This series will serve as preparation for the senior team’s five-match Test series against England, beginning on June 20 at Headingley.

Additionally, senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might be asked to join India A to regain red-ball form. Rohit has struggled in Tests, managing only 164 runs across India’s last three series, while Kohli averaged 23.75 against Australia despite a century in Perth.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness remains a concern after a back injury on the Australia tour. His participation in IPL 2025 is uncertain, and his recovery will be crucial for India’s success in England. The India A squad will be announced after the IPL 2025 playoffs conclude on May 25.
