With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad submission deadline approaching on February 12, Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness remains a key concern for Team India. The ace fast bowler, who suffered a back spasm during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, recently completed his medical assessment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. According to a Times of India report, his scans and evaluations have been finalized, and a comprehensive medical report is expected within 24 hours.
Bumrah’s rehabilitation process is being closely monitored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with New Zealand-based Dr. Rowan Schouten also being consulted for expert advice. If cleared fit, he will be a crucial asset for India’s Champions Trophy campaign. However, uncertainty looms as former cricketer Aakash Chopra hinted that Harshit Rana’s recent ODI debut against England might indicate that the team is preparing for a scenario without Bumrah.
Meanwhile, India faces additional injury concerns, with Virat Kohli also struggling with knee issues. With just days left for squad finalization, the selectors will rely heavily on medical reports before making a decision on Bumrah’s availability for the marquee tournament.
