Instead, the board has finalized other Indian cities, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, for hosting the league matches.
The knockout stages have been scheduled as Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1, and the grand final on June 3, 2025 and while Hyderabad and Kolkata were initially set to host the playoffs, the BCCI is yet to confirm if these cities will retain their roles or if new venues will be selected and the 12 remaining league games promise thrilling action, with fans eagerly awaiting clashes between top teams like Gujarat Titans, who are leading the table, and others fighting for playoff spots.
Despite challenges, such as some overseas players hesitating to return due to safety concerns, the BCCI is determined to complete the season smoothly. Moreover, the players such as Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Travis Head along with the South African players like Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee and others are likely to miss the remainder part of the IPL as they have to prepare for the WTC Finals which is all set to start from June 11.
Till now, the IPL 2025 looks to be evenly balanced out as the battle for the top four is between seven teams, while the bottom three of the tournament are currently eliminated from the playoff race and with 58 matches played, the points table tells an exciting story of tight competition, with Gujarat Titans leading the pack and several teams hot on their heels as Gujarat Titans are at the top with 16 points from 11 matches, having won eight games. Their impressive net run rate (NRR) of +0.793 shows their dominance in both batting and bowling. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are right behind, also with 16 points from 11 matches and eight wins, but their NRR of +0.482 places them second.
