India Women vs Australia Women: Yastika Bhatia Ruled Out of Australia ODIs; Uma Chetry Named Replacement

India’s wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Australia due to a wrist injury during her journey with the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League. The All India Women’s Selection Committee has announced Uma Chetry as her replacement.

This setback is particularly unfortunate for Yastika This was another big blow for her as she recently returned from a left knee injury that sidelined her for much of the year, including India’s series against South Africa and the Asia Cup. About this unlucky development, Yastika remarked:

I was really hungry to play. After the injury, I was looking forward to coming back and just playing matches, to just be on the ground. That’s what I’m really grateful for – it’s tough to be out for around five months.

Uma Chetry, a promising keeper-batter, has been in impressive form in domestic cricket. Representing Team B in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, she amassed 231 runs in four innings at an average of 57.75 and a strike rate of 154.00, including a highest score of 122. She has also played four T20 internationals for India.

The three-match ODI series, part of the ICC Women’s Championship, begins at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field on December 5, with subsequent matches on December 8 and December 11 in Brisbane and Perth, respectively.
