While initially puzzling, commentator James Brayshaw clarified that it was a reference to a previous joke by Head after his standout 4/10 performance against Sri Lanka in 2022, where he had mentioned “putting the digit on ice”.
Although some fans found it amusing, others considered it inappropriate, and the celebration was even deleted by Cricket Australia’s social media accounts. There were concerns about whether the gesture might lead to disciplinary action, with speculation that it could be considered a Level 1 offense.
Meanwhile, the match continues to unfold, with India struggling at 140/6 in pursuit of 340. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was on 84, was India’s main hope as they battle to save the Test. Australia, needing just four wickets to win, is in a commanding position, but the contest remains intense with the series tied at 1-1.
