Pat Cummins, the Australian captain, lauded Reddy for his fearless batting style, highlighting his adaptability and impressive stroke play, including ramp shots, pulls, and drives.
Both players are part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL, with Cummins retained for INR 18 crore and Reddy for INR 6 crore in the 2025 auction. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Reddy has made significant contributions, scoring consistent runs, including 41, 42, and 42, despite India’s low totals. Pat Cummins praised Nitish Reddy and said:
I’ve seen a fair bit of Nitish Kumar Reddy in the IPL. He‘s a really good player, quite adaptable. He’s played some awesome ramp shots, pull shots, and drives.
His power-hitting has been remarkable, smashing six sixes against Australia’s pacers, a record for an Indian batter in Test cricket in Australia. Previously, no Indian had hit more than three sixes in such conditions. Reddy’s 163 runs at an average of 54.33 reflect his growing impact in the series, making him a key player for India.
