During the first innings of the 4th Test match between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, provided a moment of levity with his humorous banter with Ravindra Jadeja. As Australia’s Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland were at the crease, scoring runs quickly, Rohit and Jadeja were caught on the stump mic discussing their strategy to get the pair out.
Rohit, who had been struggling with his leadership and batting in the match, joked about taking matters into his own hands. He said:
Hume out karne mein dekhna hai usko yaar. Out kaun karega fir, main? Mereko daalna padhega! (We need to get him out. Who’s going to do it, me? I’ll have to bowl then!).
This playful interaction went viral and was widely shared on social media. Despite his off-field humor, Rohit’s performance on the field was less than stellar. Australia posted a massive 474 runs, and Rohit promoted to bat higher in the order, failed again, getting dismissed for just 3 runs off 5 balls by Pat Cummins.
