With the end of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25, former England captain Michael Vaughan has named his combined best XI from the series, which included five Indian players. Vaughan’s selection came after India’s loss to Australia in the five-match Test series, which Australia won 3-1.
Vaughan’s team featured Indian stars such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah. Despite his impressive performance, Nitish Kumar Reddy was excluded from Vaughan’s list, even though he had scored 298 runs and took 5 wickets across the five matches.
In Vaughan’s combined XI, he chose Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sam Konstas as the opening pair, with KL Rahul at number three. Rishabh Pant was named the wicketkeeper-batter, while Ravindra Jadeja was selected as the all-rounder.
The fast-bowling lineup included Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah, and Scott Boland. Vaughan emphasized that the inclusion of young players like Jaiswal and Konstas would inspire future generations to embrace Test cricket. The team received praise from former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who agreed with most of Vaughan’s selections.
