IND vs AUS: Sourav Ganguly Talks About India’s Batting Struggles and Virat Kohli’s Form

Sourav Ganguly discussed Virat Kohli’s struggles with the bat during the Test series against Australia. Kohli’s repeated dismissals in similar ways throughout the series have sparked concerns about his form and ability to perform in red-ball cricket going forward. These challenges have raised questions about his consistency in the longer format of the game.

Sourav Ganguly explained that India’s struggles in the Border Gavaskar Trophy were caused by the batter’s inability to score big runs. He stressed that consistent performances from the batting lineup are essential for winning matches and their failure to deliver was a key factor in the team’s disappointing results. He said:

We did not bat well, we have to bat well in Test cricket. If you do not bat well, you will not win Test matches. If you score 170-180, you cannot win Test matches. You have to score 350-400. No one can be blamed. Everyone has to score runs.

Sourav Ganguly commented on Virat Kohli’s struggles with the bat during the series, expressing confidence in Kohli’s ability to bounce back. Kohli started strong with a century in the first Test at Perth but struggled in the next four matches, managing only 190 runs at an average of 23.75.

During the series, India managed to score over 350 runs only twice, both on pitches with better batting conditions in Perth and Melbourne. In the final Test at Sydney, the batters faced difficulty against swing and seam, resulting in below-par totals in both innings and a disappointing performance.
