Rohit Sharma headed towards the spectators gathered near the nets to watch their favorite players in action. After spending some time with the fans, he began walking back to the dressing room. At that moment, a young girl in the crowd made a request to the Indian captain, asking him to call Shubman Gill.
Raising his hand, Rohit signaled that Shubman Gill had already left after finishing his practice. However, the fan kept insisting, repeatedly asking Rohit to call Gill. This persistence annoyed him and he responded loudly, expressing his frustration.
The girl explained that she is a huge supporter of Shubman Gill. She admitted arriving late because she was wrapping a bandage on her fractured leg. She also sent her best wishes to Gill for the next match, hoping he regains his form soon. She said:
My leg is broken. I put on a bandage and came. Yesterday I saw him briefly, but could not say anything because I started crying. I came a little late today because of my leg, hence I could not meet Shubman (Gill). But I hope he makes a comeback.
Scoring runs has been challenging for Shubman Gill in this series. The 25-year-old has managed only 60 runs in two Tests, averaging just 20. As India’s No.3 batter, the team expects him to contribute more runs at the top of the order.
